About this Event:

This is a two-part program to be held October 17th  and November 7th.
The instructional day for new participants will take place at Peconic River Sportsman’s Club on October 17th, participants will then have the option to hunt in Hubbard County Park, Flanders or Southaven County Park, Yaphank on November 7th (Note that park options for the youth hunt are subject to change depending on the number of participants).
All junior hunters ages 12 – 15 will be hunting with a licensed (hunting license, HIP #, signed duck stamp) mentor. If a student does not have a mentor, certified hunter training instructors, experienced waterfowl hunters vetted by the NYSDEC Hunter Education Program, and Environmental Conservation Officers will be present to guide you throughout the program and help you to become part of the long tradition of waterfowlers on Long Island.

About the Program

Overview:

HFNY events allow you to see what the outdoor experience and wildlife conservation are all about.
Event topics can include target shooting, archery, fishing, field dressing, trapping, mentored hunts, seminars, social gatherings and more.

Events are designed for all ability levels, unless otherwise indicated.
HuntFishNY events are offered by NY DEC and a network of partners and instructors who conduct hands-on events, teaching the basics of hunting, fishing, trapping, outdoor safety, wildlife, and other outdoor skills.

DEC may facilitate registration and aid in advertising for HFNY events. If not a DEC hosted or co-hosted event, the logistics and implementation of the event are solely the responsibility of the host.
If you have questions about an event, please contact the event host for more information.
