About this Event:
The Dansville Fish and Game Club would like to invite all youth licensed hunters (ages 12-15) to join us for our annual “Youth Only Pheasant Hunt”
We will be providing the dogs and their handlers. The DEC Reynolds Game Farm will be providing the birds. We ask that all youth hunters come with an accompanying adult, the shotgun of their choice, proper ammunition for the gun of choice (high brass #4,5,6 preferred), weather appropriate clothing and water proof, comfortable boots. We will be requiring all participants to wear a blaze orange vest and hat. Please bring along your own supply of drinking water. If you are unable to obtain these items please let us know as we will do everything in our power to try and get every interested youth hunter out hunting. The boots maybe the very most important item on the list as weather conditions vary at this time of year and these hunts often require 3-5 miles of walking in field conditions.
All youth hunters who have not completed our “Hunting with Dogs” safety seminar will be required to attend that short (1-1 ½ hour) seminar prior to taking the field behind our four-legged hunting partners. We will be hosting shooting practice at our trap fields several times before this event. All are welcome to come and get some shooting in before actually taking the field. HuntFishNY events are offered by NY DEC and a network of partners and instructors who conduct hands-on events, teaching the basics of hunting, fishing, trapping, outdoor safety, wildlife, and other outdoor skills.
DEC may facilitate registration and aid in advertising for HFNY events. If not a DEC hosted or co-hosted event, the logistics and implementation of the event are solely the responsibility of the host.
