About this Event:
This course will include a good mix of classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, and outdoor activities designed to make the material practical, engaging, and easier to understand. Students will have opportunities to handle and become familiar with hunting equipment while learning the fundamentals of firearm safety, responsible hunting, and ethical decision-making in the field.
Students must bring the completed Hunter Education homework to this course. Students can access the homework and manual through the DEC website: https://dec.ny.gov/things-to-do/hunting/hunter-education/courses-certifications
Please dress appropriately for the weather, as portions of the course will take place outdoors. Be sure to bring a lunch.
Whether you are completely new to hunting or have spent time around hunters and firearms before, come ready to participate, ask questions, and learn.

All students under the age of 16 must bring a permission slip signed by a parent or legal guardian. You can download the permission slip on this page.
Minimum Age Policies:
Student must be at least 11 years of age to attend the Hunter Education Course, unless he/she will, within the next year, hunt in a state that allows hunting under the age of 12 years. Check with the instructor as some restrictions will apply.
