About this Event:
NYSDEC, Montezuma Audubon, Artemis New York, and Wayne County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs are hosting a women’s mentored pheasant hunt at Northern Montezuma WMA in Savannah, Wayne County. Novice and youth hunters are welcome to attend. We will start the morning at the Montezuma Audubon Center with a safety talk and trap shooting practice, then head out to hunt the adjacent fields with mentors. After the hunt, we will learn how to process birds to get the most out of your harvest, and end with a wild game taco bar for lunch.
A limited number of shotguns will be available to borrow, so participants should bring their own 12g or 20g shotgun if possible. 12g and 20g ammunition will be provided. Participants should wear waterproof footwear and clothing appropriate for weather conditions. Blaze orange vests, eye protection, and ear protection will be available to borrow and are required in the field.
All participants must have a valid New York State hunting license.

HuntFishNY events are offered by NY DEC and a network of partners and instructors who conduct hands-on events, teaching the basics of hunting, fishing, trapping, outdoor safety, wildlife, and other outdoor skills.
DEC may facilitate registration and aid in advertising for HFNY events. If not a DEC hosted or co-hosted event, the logistics and implementation of the event are solely the responsibility of the host.
