About this Event:
A: This hunt is geared towards women and non-binary identifying people who are interested in upland gamebird hunting. The event will take place at the Cayuga Tompkins Cooperative Hunting Area in King Ferry New York located at 1162 Route 90 King Ferry. Participants are expected to show up at 8:30am to get registered at the check station. After everyone has registered there will be a brief introduction and safety talk. We will then break into groups to go to the respective hunting areas.
B: Please come prepared for several hours walking in the field. Hunters should dress for the weather, boots, warm clothes and durable pants and gloves/hats if necessary. Participants should bring their own hunter orange vest/shirt and be prepared for walking in brush that may contain prickers. All hunters need a valid 2026-2027 hunting license. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their own shotgun, however if you do not have one please contact us and arrangements can be made for you to borrow one.
C: Host: Madeleine Glahn. DEC Wildlife Technician. 1285 Fisher Avenue Cortland NY. 6072183812. madeleine.glahn@dec.ny.gov
D: After the hunt each group will return to the check station where there will be a lunch of wild game available as well as hot drinks. We will also provide water. Please bring any additional snacks or drinks. Providing the hunt is successful we will walk hunters through field dressing their bird.
